Experimental Design and Data Analysis

This intellectual output is designed as a webinar, in combination with own data analysis approaches. It has two main topics,
(1) Experimental Design principles and practice, using Design-Expert software;
(2) explorative and test statistics of datasets obtained in property determinations, chemical analysis, and other scientific approaches.

In the given webinar the students get acquainted with various experimental design models, with the three major approaches data screening, characterization, and model optimization. It is learned about factorial, D-optimal, or mixed-design experiments, and how to arrange actual tests for e.g. wood properties of LKWS.

Currently employed experimental design strategies, and statistical assessment methods, as used as “best-practice” at all partners in the field of wood science and technology, are collected, screened, and discussed. This should create an improved and better understanding of experimenting, improved science-based approaches, and higher-quality research outputs.

This intellectual output has therefore a twofold effect:
(1) students learn about experimental design and data assessment, critical to their own ongoing research,
(2) and staff researchers learn about how to better design planned research and optimize the scientific output.
